A Message from Blue

Hello Poppets,

Well, the books have closed on another regular season.  Congrats to all of you for defending your title as Season Champs.  Since I've been getting e-mails about numbers lately, I'm just going to gloss over some of the statistical results for the season.  This was a shorter regular season than normal, so we can't really do a comparison of totals.  However, I can say that average run production was up this year.  This was supported by the fact that various indicators, such as batting average and on base percentage, were also up from last year.  For those of you who helped accomplish this by taking steroids, I'd like to give you all a pat on your now extraordinarily hairy backs.  I'll be working on adding this season's stats to your career stats. When that's done, I can try and e-mail them to you or your Captain can throw them up on the website.  Or both.

While we're on the subject, I'd like to send a thanks to your Captain for putting together the website.   I know it must have taken a lot of work but it looks and works great.  Hopefully you've all had a chance to visit it but if you haven't, go take a look.   And I think your Captain is always looking for contributors.  So, if you have anything you'd like to throw up there.  Let him know.

I've received a few e-mails about errors in the stats.  For those of you who have found errors, I'd like to say that our team of scorekeepers and statisticians are doing everything they can to ensure that all numbers are recorded as accurately as possible.  It serves no benefit to the team to have artificially skewed results.  So, if you do find a problem, please provide a detailed explanation of how something was scored incorrectly.  In lieu of any convincing evidence, the ruling in the scorebook will have to stand.

I'd like to give a special thanks to Anita who did most of the scoring this season.  It is often a thankless task which nobody wants to do but she approached it with an enthusiasm to learn the material and a sense of pride in the work.  So, thank you Anita.

That's all for now.

always,
Blue
